Sal Genoa has quietly carved out a little niche for himself. He's putting together some really well shot, interesting flicks at Anabolic. Not that we aren't used to good movies from that company. They are just known for very simple stroke movies that don't require much more than a TV, some lube and some free time. Sal makes some of those movies as well, but his Artcore flicks are unique. They are exquisitely lit and shot in a way that should make most of the feature directors in the industry jealous. What makes his flicks different from those 'art' flicks is the fact that he still shoots sex with the Anabolic sensibility. At his best, Genoa combines the artistic lighting and camera work with white-hot sex to deliver the sort of movie that other better-known semi-feature guys promise, but rarely deliver. This should be one of those flicks because it is wall to wall hotties. Anything short of a home run is going to feel like a disappointment.

Hillary Scott is obsessed by dreams of two men at a time. Her make up is very interesting, but the oral sex is about as joyless as can be. They shove pre-hard cocks to the back of her throat and listen to her gag. Hillary is too pretty and too hot to be at her best in this sort of situation. She can handle it just fine, but it is about as sexy as listen to someone hack up a mouthful of phlegm. Even as they start fucking her other holes, Hillary keeps letting lose with those stabbed seal sounds. We can only assume that Sal was going for this kind of feel to the scene so who gets the blame? I have say that this scene just isn't all that interesting and if you aren't into watching guys dispassionately plug away on a pretty girl's holes then you might like it more than I did.

Moving forward a few centuries, Mike Horner is still around exploring dirty dreams. This time it's Kelly Wells exploring some 70's disco love with Brians Surewood and Pumper. The grainy pictures and lighting are a nice touch and certainly prove that Genoa is every bit as skilled when it comes to making porn as those other high-profile feature guys. The problem lies in the fact that the action is every bit as stomach retching as it was in the opener. This time it doesn't come with super cute Hillary so it's even less strokeable. They start fucking her as and rather quickly get around to the DP. The guys are somewhat better so the action is slightly less dispassionate, but it still isn't anything close to what Sal is capable of. She delivers some stale lines of dialog that might be interesting if it didn't sound like she was using one of those key chain voice things to spit them out. (Is Nick Manning teaching Kelly how to deliver dialog?) There is some decent anal pounding along the way, but it's another disappointment.

1988 brings us Kat as the horny dreamer. She actually looks like a refuge from Dark Bros. porn. Like the other girls, Kat rams cock to the back of her throat and makes a noise that sounds an awful lot like what you hear when you drop a fork into the garbage disposal. (Oh yeah, sexy image there.) I love the way the lighting matches her make up and it almost feels like we're watching an early Ginger Lynn effort. Not completely of course. The guys do a lot more to hurt the scene than we ever would have seen in those bad old days before pill popping guys fish-hooked their way into our lives. If you can put up with the dudes, then there is some damn hot sex here. Kat is a nasty little thing who takes more dick into tiny body than you would think possible. Tia Tanaka shows up a year later as a sexy teen with dirty dreams. It kicks off an “American Beauty” themed scene that quickly degenerated into another quag-fest. Even with guys who are doing their best to steal the thunder, we are treated to the best sex of the movie. Jasmine Byrne is next and she lies flat on her back while describing the dream. This makes for great tease and leads her into the dream. Once again it is a two on one scene that looks beautiful, but gives way to a trained seal show as she gags instead of sucking. That is the best thing about this scene. The second best thing is the way Sammie's ass swallows the fake cock Jamie rams into her backdoor. It's an interesting romp, but I don't know if closing the movie out with a veggie fuck is really the strongest movie Sal could have made.

Reading over this review one might expect a lower overall grade than this one gets. It isn't as good as it should have been, but there are some wildly impressive aspects to this movie. Each scene has a different look to it and in most cases, the results are impressive. They aren't always perfect for stroking, but it is an important detail to note. The biggest problem I found was the fact that the sex was so common and dispassionate. I realize that this sort of stuff has become popular among the rough-sex/side-show crowd, but it bores the living shit out of me. Hearing a pretty girl try to vomit up yesterday's lunch isn't sexy. It's especially annoying when they do that instead of delivering a quality blowjob. When you add on a collection of guys with scrip-rections and a serious anti-female attitude, the result is something akin to watching two warthogs tearing each other apart. Some of you are going to absolutely love the sex and maybe not appreciate the filmatic elements at play. Others will go apeshit over the whole package. I love the cast, really like what Sal is trying to do, but would have cut out about one third of the sex to make it strokeable. If we could cut out the side-show sex and just let Jasmine, Hillary and Tia do their thing…wow. With hotter sex, genuine heat and girls who don't gack up a lung every time they are faced with a medicated penile prove, then this would be a movie that would blow away the stuff that the Michael Ninn's of the world are trying to give us. Hell, it even has a bit of the dark, alt-feel minus of course the bad lighting, homoerotic obsession with skinny white boys, glassy eyed “too bored for sex” chicks and the other pretentious bullshit that makes alt-porn such a catastrophic failure. (Folks, Sal could direct any one of those alt-boiz under the table and still have his core audience stroking the night away.) Since I can't grade the movie on what it might have been, I have to take it, quagging, choking and attention whoring meat puppets and all. It's worth a look, but the replay shows that the big home run we thought we were watching was just a really long shot that hooked a foul.
